KUCHING: Batu Kawah will have a new access road from Jalan Datuk Temenggong Tan Meng Chong traffic light junction to Ensing residential area to ease traffic congestion from the main road.

This is another development project from Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian for his constituency to better ease the congested traffic at the area.

Dr Sim had previously met the residents to collect feedback and suggestions on traffic issues there, followed by a planning of a 285-metre long new road to link traffic light junctions to the Ensing residential area, located near the Stapok badminton court to ease the increasing traffic flow at the surrounding area.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), in a statement issued today (Jan 11), stated that Dr Sim applied for funds from the Sarawak government for this road project.

Dr Sim on Wednesday witnessed the handing over of this RM2.02 million new road project contract from Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to the contractor.

The statement disclosed that the project will commence from Jan 15 until Sept 15, taking eight months to complete.

Also present at the handing over ceremony was MPP chairman Tan Kai.

“This area is in rapid development and facing heavy vehicle traffic, thus, we decided to construct a new access road to ease the traffic coming from the residential area to the main road after receiving feedback from the residents,” Dr Sim said in a similar statement.

He said that a new access road to link emerging developed residential areas to the main road has proven it can effectively divert the congested traffic flow and benefit the public.

The statement added that the completed access road for Inspire Heights and Lotak Villas to Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wee Boon Ping road is a good example.

“This access road is under Dr Sim’s RTP project that benefits the people and costs RM430,000,” the statement read.
