KUCHING: SeDidik aims to set the benchmark for national and international early childhood education.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus in expressing the ministry’s hoped to achieve the target, said the focus to strengthen SeDidik as a high quality early childhood education institute (IPAKK) is to focus on providing care, guidance and education services,  especially in rural and interior areas of the state.

“Apart from that, we will establish a professional network with educational institutions at home and abroad for the purpose of recognising early childhood education institution reputation.

“We will also foster a spirit of shared responsibility among the community, parents and caregivers in educating children through the establishment of a parent and community consensus council in every SeDidik institution,” she said.

Rosey said this when speaking at the SeDidik Perdana Kuching Zone Certificate and Prize Presentation Ceremony at a hotel, here on Tuesday.

She said SeDidik is looking to strengthen and empower existing value-added programmes such as Let’s Begin Programme, English Fun Learning, Sunshine Balanced Reading Programme for English, SeDidik’s Thematic Module and Dr. Glenn Doman Method for Babies and Parents.

“Programmes which include Kindergym, ‘Kindergardening’ and music will also be continued and strengthened in addition to implementing digital upgrades to the learning materials and experiences,” she revealed.

Rosey pointed out that 78 out of 144 educators or 54.16 percent have at least a diploma in early childhood education and SeDidik aims to improve the quality of educators and caregivers by next year where all educators and caregivers must have a diploma in early childhood education.

“We will also establish a strategic training system and professional development programme to strengthen the efficiency of personnel in line with current needs and demands,” she added.

Rosey also expressed hope in the ministry for SeDidik to continue being committed in providing quality early childhood care service, guidance and education for all children in the state.
