SERIAN: Rural areas in Sarawak are benefiting from the government’s aggressive rural transformation programmes.

One such area is Kampung Sangai Mawang where its residents are now enjoying facilities like a new bridge and a hall completed under the Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) scheme.

“Social amenities such as the newly built hall will enable residents to conduct various programmes and will be improved according to their needs in the future,” said Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben.

The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported the Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Deputy Minister as saying that the process of providing internet facilities in Kedup and Serian is entering the third phase.

“The installation of equipment and telecommunications towers, including optical fibre, along the main road is ongoing.

“With fully equipped facilities, residents should take the opportunity to increase their income, especially in agricultural activities,” he said.

Martin also announced an RTP allocation of RM100,000 for the hall’s awning and handed over Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds worth RM3,000 to the women and youth bureaus of Kampung Sangai Mawang.
