PUTRAJAYA: Forty new positive Covid-19 cases have been reported in Malaysia, among the lowest recorded since the imposition of the movement control order (MCO) on March 18, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 31 of the new cases are foreigners and there are no imported cases.

“The number of positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia now stands at 6,819 and 1,356 are active cases with infectivity,” he said at a daily news conference on Covid-19 here yesterday.

He said 16 cases are still being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU), with four requiring ventilator support.

He said 70 cases had recovered and were discharged yesterday, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 5,351 or 78.5 percent of the total number of cases.

Another Covid-19 fatality was reported, bringing the death toll to 112, he added. − Bernama
