KUCHING: The State Health Department has declared a new cluster in Kota Samarahan called the Jalan Endap Sawit cluster.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this was a workplace cluster involving an oil palm factory at Jalan Endap, Kota Samarahan.
“Of the 48 individuals who were screened, 29 including the index case tested positive for Covid-19, 10 tested negative while nine are still awaiting laboratory test results,” it said in a statement yesterday (May 19).
SDMC said all positive cases were referred to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Serian Hospital and admitted to the Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) in the districts of Kuching and Serian for isolation and further treatment.
The health department also declared the end of a cluster, namely the Tembok Sri Aman cluster in Sri Aman.
SDMC added of the 84 active clusters which remained, six recorded 32 new cases yesterday.
