KUCHING: The Health Department has declared three new clusters on Thursday (Aug 12), one each in the districts of Samarahan, Betong and Mukah.
The Bandar Riyal Cluster in Samarahan is a workplace cluster involving workers and customers at a community market and food premises in Bandar Riyal, Jalan Datuk Muhammad Musa, Kota Samarahan.
“From the cluster, 469 people have been tested. Out of these, 47, including the index case, tested positive for Covid-19 while another 422 tested negative,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
Meanwhile, the Kampung Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong is a community cluster involving residents of a village located at Kampung Bungey Hilir in Debak.
SDMC said 86 people were tested and out of the total, 28, including the index case, tested positive and only five tested negative.
It added that 53 others were still waiting for the test results, with the cluster recording another 26 new cases on Thursday.
“In Mukah, the Lubuk Bukut Cluster is also a workplace cluster involving workers and family members living in a workers quarters at a charcoal mining site in Lubuk Bukut.
“Out of 346 people tested, 40, including the index case, tested positive, 299 tested negative and 25 are still waiting for the test results.”
The cluster also recorded two new cases on Thursday.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 96 active clusters statewide, with 18 recording 215 new cases on Thursday.
The number of red status districts has increased to 20 as Betong and Tebedu each recorded 52 and 46 local infection cases in the past 14 days.
The number of orange status districts also dropped to four while yellow status and green status districts remain the same with 11 and five respectively.
