KUCHING: The new Community College Sibu Branch situated at Campus Park, Jalan Wawasan, Sibu will be officially opened for intake in April 2018.
This was revealed by Jemien Bin Ental, the Director of Community College Kuching during his courtesy visit Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister for International Trade and e-Commerce and Second Minister for Finance at his office. Included in the visit were the Deputy Director, Wan Khazlina bt. Wan Mohamed and Recruitment Officer, Emirudziawati bt. Juni.
The College will offer short domestic and skilled courses like sewing, handicraft, making keropok lekor and chips crackers, home-made chocolate, cake making and cake decorations, cookery, hair trimming and styling. For a start, the College will conduct certified tourist guide course for school leavers at subsidised fee. Preparation for the launching ceremony to be held on 9th April 2019 was also discussed.
Wong is grateful to the Ministry of Higher Education for approving the setting up the 7th Community College in Bawang Assan Constituency, Sibu. This college will definitely benefit the local communities in obtaining skilled technical and vocational training. Other Community Colleges are located in Kuching, Bau, Santubong, Betong, Sarikei and Miri.
