KUCHING: A new contractor has been appointed through open tender for the Kampung Rantau Panjang riverbank retaining wall project which is under Phase 5 of the Batu Kawah Riverbank Park.
Deputy Premier and Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) director Ir Ahmad Denney has successfully handed over the RM11.3 million project to the new contractor.
“The first contractor was mutually terminated for failure to start the project involving a cost of RM 7.8 million after one year,” he said.
He disclosed that the new contractor had placed order and payment for the imported construction materials which will arrive in three to four months’ time.
“It is hoped that they can catch up the lost time for this Phase 5 of the Batu Kawah Riverbank Park,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Sim witnessed the handover of the project from Ir Ahmad to Cityon Development Sdn Bhd director Wong King Kau.
