LUNDU: A new dam will be constructed in the Magaran Besararea, benefiting the villages of Kampung Tebaro and Kampung Jampari, here.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the initiative aims to replace the outdated and leaking dam currently in use, ensuring a reliable water reservoir for both villages.
The project, he added, will encompass the construction of a shared dam, installation of covered and fenced filtration tanks for each village, two storage tanks with a capacity of 2000 litreseach, fire hydrants, and house-to-house pipe installations.
“For Kampung Tebaro, RM550,000 will be used to instal 4-inch HDPE pipes over 5.5 km and 3-inch pipes over 3 km. This aims to benefit approximately 85 households in the village.
“Meanwhile, Kampung Jampari will use RM320,000 to instal 4-inch HDPE pipes over 3 km and 3-inch pipes over 1 km, benefiting about 55 households,” he said when inspecting the project site to get with the implementing agency and the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) on Monday (Jun 3).
Also present were a political secretary Niponi Undek, Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Lundu supervising officer Hastomo Tommy, and members of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) of Kampung Tebaro and Kampung Jampari.
