SRI AMAN: Dayak women here have a new social platform with the formation of Gerempung Indu Dayak Sri Aman (Gidsa).

Yiu Ching Sieu, wife of Works Minister Baru Bian, said it was her hope that Gidsa would bring as many women in this division under its umbrella so that they could come up with a common plan to implement.

Yiu said she was happy that more women were seeing the advantage of working through a common platform as oppose to operating individually.

“There are a lot of things women can do for the society, family and for themselves but which they can successfully do as a team.

“In this context, Gidsa will make a perfect platform for its members to not only socialise but to find ways how women can improve their lot economically, politically and socially,” Yiu said when officiating at the pre-Gawai dinner and launch of Gidsa here yesterday.

Yiu went on to praise the members of Gidsa, which was formed only recently but was already able to organise a grand dinner.
