KUCHING:The Hemodialysis Unit at Mukah Hospital has received a valuable donation in the form of a new dialysis machine.
Mukah community chief Kapitan Kang Boon Eong said that this machine was a generous contribution from the late Cho Peh Liang, specifically intended to support the patients reliant on it.
“This generous gift from the late Cho is meant to ease the burden on the patients who depend on it. The family of the deceased attended the handover ceremony as a symbolic gesture of passing on the machine to Mukah Hospital,” he stated.
These remarks were made during the symbolic handover ceremony of the dialysis machine to Mukah Hospital, attended by various members of the late Cho’s family, Mukah Hospital director Dr Ardif Damiri, and other hospital staff.
In July, Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine had brought to light the challenges faced by kidney patients at Mukah Hospital due to the aging and deteriorating dialysis machines, some of which were over 18 years old.
He stressed the urgency of the situation, noting that the existing machines frequently encountered technical issues, experienced breakdowns, and lacked spare parts.
This issue had also been raised during a visit by federal Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni several months ago.
