KUCHING: The 44 victims who were left homeless by a fire that destroyed five houses on Dec 12 here will be relocated to a new home at Darul Hana.

Federal Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the victims are now residing at the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Dewan Kampung Pulo Ulu.

She said the next course of action is to move the victims to their new homes which she will discuss further with the relevant agencies.

Fires destroyed four houses in Kampung Pulo Ulu while another house at Kampung Semarang was razed to the ground.

For the house in Kampung Semarang, she said the victims have already been paid compensation to move into a new home.

“For the remaining victims, we will transfer l them to their new homes as soon as possible.

“InsyaAllah, we can do that because we have an allocation of new houses in Darul Hana that can accommodate these families,” she said, adding that it is not suitable for the victims to reside too long in the multipurpose hall.
