MUKAH: Kemas Kindergarten at Kampung Petanak here will have a new building soon.
The new building at the same site is a replacement for the former one, which had been declared unsafe for occupation by the authority.
A local contractor has been appointed to construct the building, which is scheduled to complete next month, said a teacher familiar with the matter.
According to her, the project should have commenced last August, but due to the movement control order (MCO), it was somehow delayed.
“There may be some adjustments to the project specification too, due to space constraint,” the teacher, who preferred anonymity, told New Sarawak Tribune on Saturday (Oct 3).
The former wooden building was demolished about one month ago, to pave way for the construction of a new one, she revealed.
She and her colleagues as well as the children are currently using the old Roman Catholic chapel nearby. They have done so since early this year, she added.
Kemas Kindergarten Kampung Petanak currently has two teachers, two assistant teachers and 26 children aged between four and six years old.
