SARIKEI: Community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) serve as ambassadors for each ethnic group, playing a crucial role in fostering unity and ensuring good governance within the government, says Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
Speaking at the presentation of community leaders appointment certificates, the Repok assemblyman urged newly appointed KMKK to carry out their duties with integrity, honesty, and sincerity.
Heasserted that KMKK serve as role models and inspire the younger generation to engage in politics and become future leaders.
“KMKK in the Sarawak government is the face of diversity in Sarawak. KMKK plays an important role in ensuring that the voice of each race is heard and valued.
“They serve as a vital bridge of communication between the government and their respective communities,” he said during the programme at Sri Nyelong Hall here yesterday (Sept 30).
Huang also expressed his hope that they would remain dedicated to serving the people, regardless of their political affiliations.
Apart from that, Huang commended the dedication of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to the welfare of Sarawakians and his vision of leading the state towards prosperity by 2030.
In light of this, he called upon the KMKK to strengthen public understanding, especially in rural areas, about the relentless efforts of the Sarawak government.
He emphasised the need for collective efforts to realise Sarawak’s progress towards becoming a developed state by 2030.
