BELAGA: New lead has emerged and the search for a missing man in Bakun continues into the fifth day of rescue operation today.

The boat of the missing victim, Ali Lingak, was found in Batang Balui by villagers involved in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operation Centre, the boat was still in good condition when it was found and the victim’s equipment and gear were still there too.

The SAR operation was continued near the area where the boat was found but the victim was still nowhere to be found.

It said the operation was halted at 3.15pm and is to continue tomorrow with the help of a diving rescue team.

The victim was reported missing since Mar 10 in Long Selui, Uma Kelap Lama when the victim’s son returned home and discovered that his father was not at home.

The operation centre received an emergency call on Monday and despatched rescuers from Bintulu fire and rescue (Bomba) station to the scene.
