KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat inspected one of the recently completed cement road projects in his constituency.
He revealed that the project at Jalan Masam, Simpang 4, KM4, Jalan Pelajau, Bukit Goram here has benefited some 30 families.
Previously, the houses constructed on the terraced slope were linked by gravel road. During rainy days, the road is muddy and slippery causing great inconvenience to the residents.
Their hardship came to the knowledge of Jamit and after visiting the site, he approved a grant of RM150,000 to cement the section of the road from the junction of Jalan Bukit Goram to the houses on the terraced slope.
Garai Entili, the former Kapit District information officer, who thanked Jamit, added: “Now it is comfortable for us to travel unlike previously where the gravel road was filled with potholes and uneven surface and during rainy days was quite dangerous to us, especially small cars and motorbikes.”
Jamit told the media his priority was to develop Bukit Goram.
“The funding for social activities is through MRP while infrastructure and basic amenities are through RTP like Jalan Hubung Desa, iron jetty, iron bridge, etc,” explained Jamit.
“Many new houses are erected in my constituency, for example Jalan Bukit Goram. They bought the lot to build houses from the landowner. However, they are unlike the government allocated ‘resettlement scheme’ that are well equipped with every basic infrastructure, so I need to assist them so that they have proper access road, bridges,” he added.
