SSPCA Low-Cost Neutering Clinic
KUCHING: The new location for the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (SSPCA) low cost neutering clinic will be announced next month.
Its president Datin Dona Drury Wee said, “This year, we are currently looking at two different venues.
“Hopefully, everything will be finalised in January and then, we will be able to announce where it is and get the proper proposals through to the government.”
In September last year, it was reported that SSPCA had already found a place at Bampflyde Road to be used as a neutering clinic
However, Wee stated yesterday that when the owners heard about it, they did not want to rent it out to the society.
“For the new location, we will have to do the costings and invite some veterinarians to do the work.
“We have some keen vets from Malaya who are going to do the neutering on a voluntary basis because all these have to go through proper licensing via the Veterinary Department in Kuala Lumpur.
“Eventually, we will also be getting international vets who also indicate that they would like to come to Sarawak and help the society,” she said when met by reporters yesterday during the SSPCA Christmas Charity Bazaar at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre (CEWC), Jalan Stampin.
When asked on how much the clinic would cost, Wee replied, “It will be roughly around RM800,000 a year including the equipment, initial setting up, renovations, basic salaries for the vets, their housing, food and board.”
