KUCHING: Internet Radio Islamic Sarawak (IRIS) operated by Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS) has launched a new room for its broadcasting operations.
According to its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, this addition shows IRIS’ commitment to improve broadcasting quality.
He said a sum of RM230,000 from the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) aided IRIS to develop this new broadcasting operation room fully equipped with new equipment.
He hoped with this new broadcasting operation room, IRIS will be a medium between the Islamic agencies in Sarawak, public agencies and the community.
“Since 2020, IRIS has experienced changes and improvement according to the current trend and the rapidity of current technology where IRIS can be heard, and it can also be watched on applications such as Facebook, YouTube and even TikTok,” he said.
He said this at the launching of the Konti Internet Radio Islamic Sarawak (IRIS) at Baitul Makmur II Building here Tuesday.
Abdul Wahap added that IRIS has had support from other Islamic agencies, non-governmental agencies (NGOs) and even from the public.
“IRIS has a long-term plan where IRIS can generate income from the aspect of advertising or air time which is a common practice for other broadcasting entities but at a more affordable rate,” he said.
Meanwhile, MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha called on all Islamic agencies in the state to utilise IRIS especially IRIS TV Channels, and digital radios.
“IRIS serves as a good platform for the community especially for the Islamic agencies and for the staff of LAKMNS.
“Through IRIS, we can make the public aware of financial support initiatives, such as the Ibnu Khaldum scholarship, and it can also be used as a tool to publicise the Haj pilgrims and halal products,” he said.
Misnu expressed his hope that IRIS will be utilised throughout the month especially with the upcoming Ramadan month where many programmes can be highlighted and collaborated with the Office of the Mufti of the Religious Department.
“I hope that all these Islamic agencies will plan effective social media strategies including setting objectives, determining suitable platforms, and designing relevant content.
“As for community management aspects, all agencies are to ensure that they interact with their followers on social media, respond to any enquiries, to give support, and to ensure that they are responsive towards feedback,” he added.
The new IRIS broadcasting operation room was officiated by Misnu.
