BINTULU: A new shortcut road will be constructed from Taman Happy Garden to Taman Putra Jaya here, utilising funds under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) of the Tanjong Batu state constituency.

Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang stated that the proposed road construction aims to address traffic congestion issues on Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, particularly during peak hours.

He mentioned that his office will collaborate with Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) to prepare proposals, designs, cost estimates, and facilitate the implementation tender.

“The project is expected to be completed this year and is a crucial step in reducing traffic congestion on Jalan Tun Hussein Onn,” he said.

Pang made these remarks during a site inspection for the construction of the new shortcut road on Wednesday.

He clarified that although the planned road is not lengthy, it will, at least, assist many residents in the surrounding area in reaching their homes more quickly after work and other engagements.
