KUCHING: Batu Kawah is slated to see traffic improvements with the construction of a new road connecting Jalan Ensing Timur to the Jalan Datuk Tan Men Chong junction.
Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) chairman Tan Kai said the initiative is part of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and has received the approval from the Sarawak state government.
Aimed at easing the traffic congestion at Jalan Stapok Utara’s entrance junction, this new road will feature two lanes to facilitate smoother travel for motorists, he said in a statement yesterday.
The tender process for this project was advertised yesterday (Oct 31) and will remain open until November 20, 2023.
Construction is expected to start next year and take eight months to complete.
