KUCHING: The new Director General of Road Transport Department, Dato’ Shaharuddin Khalid was in the state for work visits, recently. The work visits were in conjunction with his appointment as the new Director General of Road Transport Department on 18 September.

Prior to the appointment, Shaharuddin was the Chief Executive Advisor in the Legal Advisory Office of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Among the departments and agencies he visited were State RTD Complex , Tebedu and Biawak Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) checkpoints, Royal Customs Department , Immigration Department, Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Health Department, Agriculture Department and met Indonesian officials at the border posts. Many issues were discussed during the visits to ensure smooth workflows and efficiency.

During a visit to State RTD complex, Shaharuddin reminded the RTD personnel to project a good image of the department by being friendly with the people and make integrity their daily culture “Be friendly with the people and deliver the best services because RTD is in the frontline and deals a lot with the people.

“Re-branding the RTD will be implemented in terms of personnel working procedures as well as changing the people’s perception towards RTD. This is the purpose of improving our services and be managed well to make things convenient for the people,” he pointed out.
