BELADIN: Some 135 pupils, who will be going back to school next week, took the opportunity to have their hair cut for free yesterday.

A father holds his son’s head steady while a barber cuts his hair.

The one-day programme was organised by Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Beting Maro branch.

Saberkas Beting Maro branch vice president Sabad Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said the programme drew more than 100 people, which was “beyond our expectation”.

“It’s our way of lessening the burden of families,” he said.

He urged more Saberkas youth members to organise more meaningful programmes to help families prepare for the new school year.

The programme attracted more than 100 people, which was beyond the organiser’s expectations.
