KUCHING: The Youth Empowerment Society Sarawak (YESSarawak) concluded its ‘Scale-Up Perniagaan Melalui Pengurusan Kewangan dan Pemasaran Digital 2.0 (SUPEWANG 2.0)’ Programme on May 26 at Betong Community College, aimed at boosting community development and social well-being in Sarawak.
The initiative, supported by the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG) and in partnership with Betong Community College, organised three workshops starting in February.
The final programme focused on empowering 13 local entrepreneurs to enhance their digital marketing and financial literacy skills.
“The goal was to equip them with tools to effectively manage and grow their businesses, while improving their understanding of crucial business concepts like cash flow, ROI, market segmentation and branding strategies,” YESSarawak said in a statement.
Participants received practical training in developing business models using tools such as the Business Model Canvas (BMC). They engaged in modules covering financial projections, advanced cash flow management, and the marketing mix, gaining skills in creating marketing materials through platforms like Canva and CapCut, and refining business propositions with the Value Proposition Canvas (VPC).
College director Andrew Anak Douglas Gudam officiated at the closing ceremony.
“Strategic cooperation and collaboration are essential for achieving common goals, and the SUPEWANG 2.0 Programme is a prime example of these values,” he said.
Meanwhile, YESSarawak president Muhammad Afiq Hariz Khatem urged participants to prioritise collaboration over competition, pointing out the benefits of tapping into new markets and pooling resources for mutual success.
“Collaboration can open doors to new markets, expand your customer base, and enhance your business prospects far beyond what you could achieve individually,” he said.
The programme concluded with the distribution of Micro Grants worth RM500 each to the participants.
