KUCHING: A new Malay language newspaper Suara Sarawak will hit the streets tomorrow. The 56-page tabloid paper will cover local issues, business, entertainment, sports and global news. It will also have an Iban section.
It will be printed in Kuching with the first 10,000 copies to be made available throughout Sarawak, especially in the main urban centres – Kuching, Sibu and Miri.
It will also be distributed in the rural areas with each copy selling for RM1.
Suara Sarawak chief operating officer Rudi Affendi Khalik (pic) said the newspaper will have balanced reporting.
“Looking at the news on social media, which can be true or fake, Suara Sarawak aims at reporting the truth and provide accurate information to the public,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.
“The paper will also be a platform for the state government to explain its policies, incentives and development to be carried out for the people,” he said.
He said the paper would also be a platform for the people to voice out their views and opinions, thus serving as a bridge between the government and the people.
“With realistic and credible news reports, it will become a preferred paper for the people,” he said.
The newspaper has a team of experienced journalists and editors.
As a journalist and editor before, Rudi has 24 years of experience in the media industry.
