LUNDU: The new mosque set to be built in Telok Melano is likely to be named in honour of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Bilal Shah.
Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan, shared this information, adding that His Majesty will also officiate the ground-breaking ceremony of the mosque project.
“We’re deeply grateful. His visit to Telok Melano is not just for the Kembara Kenali Borneo event but also to launch the project. God willing, we’ll name the mosque after His Majesty,” said Azizul to reporters after participating in a community programme at SK Stunggang here today (Sept 9).
Azizul revealed that the mosque project has an estimated cost of over RM 5 million and is expected to be finished by the end of 2024.
“This mosque will stand as a prominent Islamic symbol in Telok Melano, making it a focal point for the area. Visitors, especially Muslims, will have a serene spot for their prayers and to appreciate this beautiful landmark,” he added.
