BINTANGOR: The project to upgrade Batu 1 traffic lights, Jalan Kelupu is expected to be completed next February .
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the project, which commenced in August this year, cost around RM496,660 and would take six months to complete.
He expressed his gratitude to Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian for giving support in approving funds to upgrade the traffic lights.
The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted him saying that the contractor in charge would stop the operation of the old traffic lights in the area on Today (Nov 28).
“This is to facilitate the installation of wires to the new traffic lights from 9 am to 2 pm,” he added.
During the site visit, Ding said the new traffic lights were of the latest model and had advanced technological functions.
He called on all road users to be vigilant when driving around the area.
