“This is our method to help the rakyat. Once the new village is well established, we will also build a mosque along with other infrastructures under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).
“As long as we have the rezeki, we will also use the available land areas for the food sector to do agricultural activities,” he said when declaring open SK Maludam here today (Oct 2).
Earlier, Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor commended the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government in developing Maludam.
According to her, ever since BDDA was established, Maludam had also benefited from the developments implemented under the agency.
“Among the projects is the phase 1 of the flood mitigation which costs around RM40 million implemented by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak.
“Last week, together with DID, we proposed a drainage project in the Maludam area to be implemented under phase two. These projects are important and should be prioritised,” she said.
She emphasized that without proper irrigation and drainage, the villagers would face difficulty growing their crops.
“That is why we prioritise this flood mitigation and drainage project. Hence, I expect a high level of cooperation from the residents here in order for the authorities to facilitate the government plans in developing Maludam sub-district,” she said.
