SIBU: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has just launched the #TRIBESPIRIT team building as the newest product for the corporate meetings and incentives market here.
BESarawak in a statement said a total of 25 participants from the local industry were now experiencing the #TRIBESPIRIT team building course to promote Sibu as the next corporate meetings and incentives destination in Sarawak.
The team building, which was launched by BESarawak and officiated by Councillor Clarence Ting, chairman of Sibu Municipal Council and Sibu Business Events Committee, kicked off on Saturday morning with a motivation session by renowned corporate training provider, Asia Ability, followed by the flag-off which took place at 1.45 pm.
BESarawak said participants, known as “Warriors”, would complete a series of challenges around Sibu, showcasing the best of the city’s tourism and hospitality while promoting team-building capabilities.
Councillor Ting said during the flag off ceremony that it was also an opportunity for the city to demonstrate its ability to host international business events.
“TRIBESPIRIT is our belief that we are stronger when we move forward together, and Sibu’s industry is united when it comes to business events,” he said.
The statement also revealed that this year, Sibu had become an increasingly popular city for business events with an increase in its economic impact, delegate numbers and job opportunities by 102 per cent since 2021.
“Sibu has generated approximately RM 61.7 million in total economic impact; RM 33.5 million in direct delegate expenditure and created 4,894 additional jobs for the city’s population,” the statement said.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BESarawak, Amelia Roziman said this was the final of the statewide #TRIBESPIRIT team building launch.
“The corporate meetings and incentives market are fairly new to Sarawak, having started only in 2019, but with the industry’s creativity and determination, Sibu has the potential to become a preferred corporate meetings and incentives destination,” she said.
