KUCHING: The Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS), located at Mile 12, Kuching-Serian, will be fully operational for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The latest update was posted on the school’s official Facebook page on Monday.
These state-owned international schools are the brainchild of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The initiative aims to provide quality education and benefit the B40 groups, regardless of race or religion.
In November last year, the Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said that the YSISS at Mile 12 was 50.67 per cent complete.
“As for the YSISS in Sibu, construction is targeted to begin in the first quarter of this year,” he said.
Regarding the YSISS in Bintulu and Miri, Sagah said that both are currently in the planning stages.
The first YSISS in Petra Jaya, officially began operations on April 4 last year.
The YSISS has adopted the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum by the Cambridge Assessment International Education Board.
