KANOWIT: Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana received a visit from a group of Chinese community leaders in the Ngemah constituency at his service centre here recently.

Pemanca Leong Khing Hee led the group which was joined by two penghulu and nine kapitans.

In emphasising the role and responsibilities of the community leaders, Anyi urged them to take them seriously.

“The community leader is selected through a strict evaluation by the Sibu Resident before appointed for the role,” he said.

Anyi also reminded the community leaders of the budget channelled by the Sarawak government under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to the assemblymen and government agencies.

He said that the allocation could be utilised to improve facilities in the community leader’s areas.

“The budget channelled to us YBs is for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants and Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS).

“In addition, there are also some budgets channelled by the Sarawak government through the state government agencies,” he stressed.
