KUCHING : The plight of 25 preschool children at SK St Peter Simpok, Padawan has caught the eye of the Habitat for Indigenous and Urban Programme (Hidup).

The children, some as young as five years old, have been attending lessons since 2016 in a classroom that has cracks on its concrete floor.

Hidup chairman George Young Si Ricord Junior handed over four pallets of floor tiles to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) on Thursday.

He explained that, prompted by Hidup’s community programmes, SK St Peter Simpok PTA chairperson Kamaria Susah Kamas wrote to Hidup for assistance, adding that Hidup, with help from Kimgres Marketing Sdn Bhd, answered the call.

George added that Hidup would continue to work with corporate bodies and civil societies to assist local communities and schools.
