KUCHING: A concerned doctor from the Sarawak General Hospital recently contacted Hope Place Kuching, seeking assistance for a five-year-old girl with multiple disabilities.
According to a media statement released by Hope Place, Nur Jannah Rahmat was diagnosed at the age of one with Global Development Delay (GDD), which renders her unable to learn basic skills like feeding herself, language and understanding her surroundings.
Although Nur Jannah cannot walk due to her undeveloped and weak legs, she can still crawl and cry when she feels hungry; because she prefers milk over solid food, she is small for her age and malnourished.
Facing financial hardships, Rahmat, 37, struggles to support his family of six, earning a maximum of RM800 a month through inconsistent work and occasionally selling wild vegetables in Kampung Semariang Bentara.
Hope Place is currently providing Nur Jannah with milk formula and diapers, and she is set to enrol at the Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) in Petra Jaya, a community rehabilitation centre for disabled children, next year.
In addition, her mother, Nurima, also told Hope Place that Nur Jannah will undergo an X-ray examination next year to see the development of her bones.
If members of the public wish to contribute to those in need, they can donate via Hope Place’s Maybank account, 5112 8900 1160, or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/hopeplacekuching for their Sarawak Pay QR code; and receipts are available upon request.
