KUCHING: The Islamic Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (Perkim) Samarahan Branch held a Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony for the late former Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in conjunction with the sixth anniversary of his passing on Jan 13.
Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang, who was among those present at the ceremony said although it has been six years since Sarawak lost a friendly leader called Tok Nan, his service and dedication in mobilising development and unifying the people of Sarawak is still fresh to this day.
“I know Tok Nan not only as a leader of Sarawak who is loved by the people, but also quite close personally because he had a great impact on the village children, including me when he was a people’s representative in the Muara Tuang area,” she said through a post on Facebook, today.
Rubiah added, the late Tok Nan was not only a leader but also an inspiration to her.
“Indeed, the passing of Tok Nan on 11 January 2017 was a great loss and deeply felt by all the people of Sarawak.
“God willing, the message and mandate that the late Adenan left us will continue to be implemented and fought for, namely “Jaga Sarawak Tok Bait-bait” (Take care of Sarawak well),” she stressed.
