KUCHING: Hope Place is in need of support for an invalid woman, whose mentally challenged son has become the sole caregiver for her.

According to a press release issued by Hope Place yesterday, Chang Siew Fah, 66, has multiple health problems, including uncontrollable diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

Furthermore, Chang had a half body stroke not long ago and a fracture on her right ankle made her unable to stand up or walk

Her son, who is 46-years-old and mentally disabled, has had to give up his job selling fruit to care for his mother full-time.

Despite his challenges, he has risen to the task, taking care of his mother round-the-clock as she requires constant attention.

“My mom really depends on me 24/7. She will call me every few minutes and if she doesn’t see me in a while, she will be anxious and nervous,” he said.

Currently her daughter is the sole income provider for the family, working in a supermarket.
