SEBUYAU: A total of 49 non-governmental organisations in the Sebuyau constituency received minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM507,000.
Minister of Utilities and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi presented the grants to the recipients at the Sebuyau DUN service centre in Kampung Sampat Sebangan here recently.
The recipients comprised Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), Parent Teacher Associations (PIBG) and other NGOs in the constituency.
Julaihi said the grants were aimed at helping the organisations carry out their community activities towards social development in their respective areas.
“This grant is proof of the Sarawak government’s concern in ensuring social development and community unity are maintained through activities carried out at the village level,” he was quoted by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
The Sebuyau assemblyman hoped that the funds given would be utilised in implementing appropriate activities to benefit the respective villages.
