KUCHING: Another gold medal was obtained by Sarawak in the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) all thanks to its wushu team.

Meeting the high expectations of fellow Sarawakians, Stephanie Ngu Chai Ern earned another gold for the home team in the women’s Jianshu category scoring 9.610 leaving Melaka and Federal Territory in second and third place respectively.

She shared that the key to her success in contributing two gold medals to Sarawak so far is her high mental composure despite facing tough opponents.

“The biggest challenge at this SUKMA is the involvement of national athletes who gave their best in this competition.

“But, if I can maintain stability and mental calmness, I feel that there is a chance to win, and I did,” she said.

As this will be her last SUKMA participation, she was ecstatic that she could successfully contribute two gold medals to Sarawak.

“However, this is not the end of my fight yet. I will do my best to go for the third gold through the women’s qiangshu category tomorrow,” she said.

To date, the wushu SUKMA team has contributed two golds, one silver, and three bronze for the home team.
