SIBU: A Sarawak Day Thanksgiving Prayer Night will be held on July 21 at the Sungai Merah Heritage Walk here from 7.30pm.
The prayer event is being organised by Prayer United Sarawak Central Zone (PUSCZ), a prayer movement consisting of the main denominations and most of the independent churches in the Sarawak Central Zone.
According to a press release issued by PUSCZ yesterday (July 17), the Sungai Merah area is significant as it is the place where the first group of settlers landed in Sibu, bringing along their Christian faith in the early 1900’s.
“It is an opportune time for the church to come together to pray and give thanks to God.
“The Sarawak Day message will be delivered by Bishop Dr Lau Hui Ming of the Methodist Church.”
There will also be a Sarawak Day play depicting Sarawak as a land of peace, dances and songs presented by the PUSCZ youths, it added.
