KUCHING: NIIT College gears up its students’ intake game through the leverage on OBOR participation, in preparation for its new campus relocation to Tropics City Enrichment Mall.
Strategically located between Jalan Tun Jugah and Jalan Song, the new Tropics City campus will roof more than 2,500 students with more high-tech facilities, new library and classrooms. NIIT’s extensive diploma course programmes coupled with its offerings of PTPTN study loan, new KOJADI education loan and ‘Study Go China’ scholarship have been a great hit among the local students.
Driven by the “One Belt One Road” (OBOR) initiative, the education service provider targets to send more local students to China with plans to recruit international students and academic instructors from China.
“We came up with a new strategy to ride on the OBOR wave and merge alliance with various established universities from China to create more education exchange programmes for Sarawak and Chinese students,” remarked the Managing Director of NIIT College, Anderson Voon.
Earlier this year, the college hosted the first “One Belt One Road International Universities Alliance Exchange” programme for 10 participating universities from China and local education institutions at Kuching Old Courthouse, to promote the respective university courses and programmes while stimulating cross-cultural learning opportunities.
Targeted at providing full scholarship for deserving Sarawak students under its ‘Study Go China’ programme, the recently signed MoU between NIIT College and Beijing Wuzi University has also opened up opportunities for NIIT diploma graduates to undertake bachelor degree courses in Beijing.
Voon further added that the scholarship is initiated to improve students’ qualifications and strengthen the credibility and reputation of both institutions via the deepening of bond in educational exchange.
“Once our strategy starts to materialise further, we can anticipate NIIT to cater to more local and international students in our new campus at Tropics City. Students will be able to experience the complete enriching college life from education to fitness gym, dining, shopping, recreational spa and beauty as well as arts and craft,” he said.
With NIIT’s higher education extension plan slowly coming into place, Voon believed that the strategic spot of Tropics City is convenient for international students and families to acquire quality living and
comprehensive education. Housing NIIT’s new campus, Tropics City Enrichment Mall will be Kuching’s first mall concept emphasising on community development with its eccentric mix of educational and recreational options.
NIIT’s 2018 students intake started in April and will go on until 20 May 2018.
