KUCHING: Nine foreigners, including four women, were arrested by the Sarawak Immigration Department following a series of raids around the city.
The operations, which took place from Wednesday evening until early this morning (Sept 5), covered seven locations.
In the operations, the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Unit inspected a total of 22 individuals for their documentation.
Of the figure, nine foreigners– six at a house in a shrimp farming pond area in Trombol and three persons at eateries in Satok, were taken into custody.
The detainees, comprising five men and four women, were found to be overstaying, lacking valid travel documents and lacking valid permits to stay in Malaysia.
All of them were being investigated under the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The public is encouraged to report any information regarding the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
