TATAU: Nine persons including five Indonesian nationals were detained for not having any travel document at a roadblock at Jalan Tatau/Sibu on Thursday (Apr 8).
Tatau district police chief DSP Dennis Bunyam said the suspects were detained following inspections on two vehicles at the roadblock at 10.15pm.
“All the suspects aged between 18 and 61 years did not have valid travel documents.
“Five of the detained men are Indonesian nationals while the other four including a woman are locals,” he said.
He added that the suspects did not undergo rT-PCR Covid-19 test as required in the standard operating procedure (SOP) for admission into Bintulu division.
“The Indonesians are being investigated under Section 6 (1) (c) and 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959 while the locals are being investigated under Section 55E of the same Act,” he said.
He revealed that the roadblock was manned by policemen, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and Rela personnel.
