MIRI: Nine members of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) have quit the party.
The nine, who are PBK’s potential candidates for the Sarawak polls, are Kenneth Adan Silek (N66 Murum), Ignatius Joseph Bunsuan (N80 Batu Danau), Robert Saweng (N63 Bukit Goram), Leo Bunsu (N49 Ngemah), Sylvester Embuas (N48 Julau/Meluan), Baba Empran (N70 Samalaju), Dr Elli Luhat (N65 Belaga), Lingga Atok (N26 Gedong) and Jeffry Unggat.
In a statement, the group led by Kenneth Adan Silek said the decision was made following an internal fallout.
“We decided to leave the party en bloc as we have lost confidence in the party leadership,” said Kenneth.
He explained that the Dayak group within PBK was set up to strengthen Dayak representation, to champion Dayak priorities and to participate in significant decision-making.
However, he added, it appeared that the Dayak members were taking a subordinate position within the party.
“Hence, nine of us today have decided to leave PBK.”
