Nine RMCO flouters fined RM1,000 each

SIBU: Nine men including a senior citizen, were fined RM1,000 each for not complying with physical distancing during a recovery movement control order (RMCO) monitoring last Monday (Nov 30).

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said they were found violating the RMCO standard operating procedure (SOP) at an eatery at Jalan Foochow around 11.15pm.

“The monitoring operation was carried out by the district’s CID D7 team and was led by Inspector Hairul Hussin.

“Upon arrival at the premises, the team found all of them did not practise physical distancing while sitting at the premises,” he explained.

The group were later issued a compound each for the offense committed under Regulation 10 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No 8) Regulations 2020.

Stanley noted that the group failed to give a valid reason for their SOP violation.

It was also said that the premises involved operates from 4pm until 2.30am.
