BINTULU: A landslide has occurred behind a longhouse along KM15, Jalan Tatau-Sibu on Tuesday (Oct 18) following continuous rain for the past few days.

However no injuries or casualties were reported among the residents in the incident at Rumah Japang, Sungai Seputih Kelawit.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the longhouse chief reported the incident at Tatau fire station around 3.50pm and a team of firemen were deployed to the scene.

Upon arriving, the team confirmed that the incident happened behind one of the units’ kitchen area.

The longhouse chief told the team that the landslide happened following continuous rain for the past few days.

No evacuation works were carried out as they only monitored the situation and installed safety fences to prevent the residents from going near the scene.

The longhouse folks are also advised to always be on alert and careful during the monsoon season.
