KUCHING: None of the federal roads in the northern region of the Sarawak has been affected by floods as all federal roads are currently being upgraded under the Pan Borneo Highway project.
“Even if affected, the upgrading process is still ongoing. But, other roads under the state government as well as the local councils may be affected.
“Village roads constructed by the Ministry for Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) may also experience some damage.
“However, we have yet to receive any report on infrastructural damage,” said Minister of Works Datuk Seri Haji Fadillah Yusof in an interview during his walkabout at the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) distribution at the Customs Academy in Matang, Petra Jaya yesterday.
Fadillah said the task forces to assess any infrastructural damage had been deployed and segregated according to their affiliates such as the State Works Department (JKR), federal JKR, Disaster Relief Councils and so on.
