KUCHING: Police have ruled out foul play in relation to a case involving a man who succumbed to his injuries following an incident at a factory where was working at Jalan Chong Foh, Mile 7 on Mar 1.

Padawan District Police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said investigation at the scene, based on CCTV footage, revealed that the victim Yee Teck Bong, 52, fell by himself while manoeuvering a forklift.

He added that the victim had a medical history (cholesterol) and was on medication for the past three years and that the victim’s wife couldn’t indicate whether the victim was taking his medication on a constant basis.

“The case has been classified as sudden death,” Aidil said when contacted today.

Previously, the case was suspected to have elements of foul play following a report lodged by his wife on Mar 5 at 7.58pm.

Aidil said based on the case facts, on March 1 at 9.15am the victim had fallen and was taken unconscious at his workplace.

Following the incident the victim suffered severe head injuries and was treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He added that the victim’s wife was informed by the doctor that the injuries suffered by her husband were due to a force from a blunt object.

The wife then suspected that her husband was not involved in a work accident but rather being assaulted by an unknown individual using a blunt object as the injuries only affected the head and not other parts of the body which prompted her to lodge a police report and requested for further investigation to be done.

Aidil pointed out that the victim had undergone two operations to remove the blood clot. On Tuesday around 5pm, the wife received a phone call from the hospital indicating that her husband was in critical condition.

“The wife met the doctor who informed her that throughout the two-day observation the victim did not show any positive sign nor improvement,” he said adding that the wife was informed that her husband succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11pm on March 5.
