Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has denied issuing any directives to restrict media freedom.
Fahmi clarified in his statement that he is only addressing those who misuse social media platforms to spread hatred related to religious, ethnic, and royal issues.
Previously, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan claimed that the government, under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was censoring press freedom, and he urged foreign observers to pay attention to this matter.
Wan Saiful, who is also a member of Bersatu Supreme Council, stated that website blocking is an abuse of power to cover up the government’s incompetence.
