SARATOK: Heavy vehicles are prohibited from using the six main roads around the town here every Monday to Friday with immediate effect.
According to a statement today, the vehicles are not allowed on the road during mornings and afternoons to ensure the safety of children who leave and enter their schools.
“The roads involved are Jalan Pembangunan, Jalan Datuk Abang Abu Talip, Jalan Edward Jerah, Jalan Roban Lama (up to SK Saint Peter), Jalan Saratok Feeder (up to SMK [Bahasa Malaysia] Saratok) as well as Jalan Ong Ho San.
“All heavy vehicles are prohibited from using these roads from 6am to 8am and 12 noon to 2pm on Monday to Thursday as well as from 6am to 8am and 11.30am to 2pm on Friday,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Saratok District Council acting secretary Bilong Engkas, when contacted, confirmed that instructions have been issued and called on drivers and owners of heavy vehicles to give full cooperation.
