KUCHING: With only less than two weeks to go till Christmas, this is the time when Kuching Sentral would be buzzing with activity as people would be returning to their villages or longhouses to celebrate the festive season.
However, a survey done at the station today found the atmosphere at the bus terminal to be quiet, with only a few people seen buying tickers or waiting for the express bus.
Apart from that, only two buses were seen getting off or picking up passengers as well as the goods they were carrying.
“So far, the only ones who have bought tickets are students,” said a express ticket salesman.
He said the atmosphere in the terminal would usually be lively with more passengers at night than during the day, but admitted that that the atmosphere was not as lively and busy as before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, other bus company ticket sellers also stated that so far there has been no change in their daily ticket sales despite the coming Christmas celebration and their sales also declined when the Covid-19 pandemic started.
