KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) has denied any connection with the recent claims made by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS) which were reported in Utusan Borneo Online.
In the article titled ‘TERAS mahu jadi parti politik terbesar di Sarawak’ (TERAS wants to become the largest political party in Sarawak), TERAS allegedly attempted to associate itself with BN.
BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the coalition expressed deep regret over the attempt to link BN with TERAS’ ambitions.
He said BN never permitted any party to use the party’s name or ‘dacing’ symbol without referring (the matter) to the coalition’s supreme council.
“BN was neither involved in nor aware of any actions taken by TERAS as mentioned in the news report,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 19).
For the record, the news report quoted TERAS chairman Affendi Jeman as saying that the party was transparent in fighting for the people, “with BN being the basis of TERAS’ struggles.”
