KUCHING: After May 15, 2022, there will be no more free COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 12, revealed Deputy Premier, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He said as for now, 286,000 for children of this aged group in the state had received the first dose.
“Another 8000 still need to get their vaccination so that we can reach 80 percent of them and 66,000 more to reach 100 percent vaccinated with first dose.
“For the second dose, 46,000 of them have received their vaccination to date,” he said in his Facebook page after an interviewed with RTM’s Red FM, a local radio station here recently.
He said that Sarawak could perform better in its vaccination rate for children when referring to the proven records of adult vaccination for first, second and booster dose rates.
Dr Sim also mentioned that for the second dose of the booster shot, the Ministry of Health (MOH) stated that about 306,000 Sarawakian aged 60 years with comorbidities were eligible.
“Meanwhile, another 3000 Sarawakian aged 12 to 18 years who were immune compromised were eligible for the second dose booster,” he added
